Roy Appleton’s Dallas Morning News blog, November 12 … The DMN blog carried this story about Adamson’s new victory flag and domestic violence campaign. Way to go, Lon Oakley!

, by
Congratulations to Adamson High School. As Sarah Mervosh reports, the school
won the mayor’s challenge against domestic abuse.
So those fighting Leopard’s get to play a football game next fall at AT&T IMG_3820 - resized
(Cowboys) Stadium. Whom they will defeat, and when, hasn’t been determined, coach Josh Ragsdale says.
With five wins and five losses, this year’s squad didn’t make the playoffs. But those W’s gave the school an opportunity to fly a victory flag again, as shown above after the 29-14 win over North Dallas High School.
Alumni leader Lon Oakley tells us a previous flag disappeared sometime in the late 1960s, or was no longer flown for whatever reason.
So Oakley got Dixie Flag Co. in San Antonio to create a duplicate from a
photograph of the original. He presented it to the school at this year’s Adamson-Sunset pep rally on behalf of the Adamson Alumni Association.
“It’s trying to infuse more of the tradition for the kids today,” he said.
